on the passing of Secretary Angelo T. Reyes

The untimely demise of Secretary Angelo T. Reyes startled all of us at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. This is a sad day for the officials and employees of the DENR where Reyes served as Secretary for almost two years – from February 2006 to July 2007.
There is no doubt that he served our country and environment with utmost dedication, energizing the DENR with his passion for results, his zeal for enforcing laws, especially the drive against illegal logging, and his keen sense of command and responsibility.
Most of all, especially among the rank-and-file, we will always remember him as a kind and caring person, jovial and good-humored, and one who always patted one’s shoulder.
Again, our sincerest commiseration to the family of the late Secretary Angie Reyes in their hour of bereavement. We join them in their prayers.
