Senate Bill No. 145 amends Republic Act (RA) 1161 increase SSS pension to P2,000

Sen. Cynthia Villar refiled the bill that will grant a P2,000 across-the-board increase in the monthly pension of 1.9 million Social Security System (SSS) members.

Senate Bill No. 145 amends Section 12 of Republic Act (RA) 1161, as amended, otherwise known as the Social Security Act of 1997.

Under the proposal, the minimum monthly pension shall be P3,200 for members with at least ten credited years of service and P4,400 for those with 20 credited years of service.

WHEREAS, Congress, under Item 1 of its Joint Resolution No. 4, (s. 2009), inscribes, as among the governing principles of the Compensation and Position Classification System (CPCS), the payment of just and equitable compensation to all government personnel in accordance with the principle of equal pay for work of equal value and one that is generally comparable with those in the private sector doing comparable work in order to attract, retain and motivate a corps of competent civil servants;

Work suspended in SC, CA, lower courts on Nov. 16-20 -- CJ Sereno

MANILA, Nov. 13 (PNA) -- Chief Justice Maria Lourdes P. Aranal Sereno on Friday announced the suspension of work on Nov. 16-20 in the Supreme Court (SC), Court of Appeals (CA) and the lower courts in some areas due to road closures for the Philippines' hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Leaders' Meeting (APEC).

In view of Proclamation No. 1072 and Memorandum Circular No. 84, calling off work in government offices in Metro Manila from Nov. 17-20 2015, and the expected difficulty of travelling on Nov. 16 in some areas of Metro Manila due to road closures, Chief Justice Sereno has ordered the schedule of work suspensions for the period Nov. 16-20, 2015.
For Monday, work is suspended in the first and second level courts of Manila and Makati City.
