A February 17, 2011 press release by the Department of Foreign Affairs
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said today that the Government of the People’s Republic of China has notified the Philippine Embassy in Beijing of its readiness to receive Vice President Jejomar Binay.
The Vice President is scheduled to depart Friday morning and meet the President of the Supreme People’s Court and the Chinese Executive Vice Foreign Minister on Saturday.
“In receiving Vice President Binay, the Chinese government took into serious consideration the sentiments of President Benigno S. Aquino III and the Filipino people,” Foreign Affairs Secretary Alberto G. Romulo said.
The visit aims to reaffirm the close friendship between Philippines and China, and manifest the common resolve of both countries to address the drug menace.
