Some 4,081 job vacancies of all types await graduates and jobseekers when the doors to the job and livelihood fair in Zamboanga City opens on Labor Day on May 1, 2011, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz said yesterday.
Citing a report of DOLE’s Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula) regional director Ponciano Ligutom said that 26 local employers based in the region, along with three licensed overseas recruitment agencies, are participating in the fair which is one of the centerpiece events of the Labor Day festivities in the three-province region.
A livelihood fair will also be conducted under the supervision of the regional office and the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE) on Labor Day, which has the theme, “Matuwid na Daan Tungo sa Kaunlaran Para sa Lahat..”
Director Ligutom said employers who will participate in the one-day Labor Day job fair to be held at the Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) Gymnasium in Zamboanga are as follows: ABS-CBN Zamboanga, YL Fishing Corp., Universidad de Zamboanga, Brent Hospital and Colleges, Inc. , WMPC, Union Galvastell Corp., M & S Co., Inc., Semirara Mining Corp., STI, Southern Mindanao Enterprises and Wellmar Marketing, Inc., Philippine Spring Water Resources, Inc., Power Systems, Inc., Smart, Sophia Jewellery, PC 911, Mega Fishing, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Trez Alaz Corp., ZC Union Marketing, Inc., Ciudad Medical Zamboanga, ORO Business Group, ZAEC Community Medical Center, Inc., Chinito’s Asian Kitchen, UP Academy, Cyber City Teleservice, Insular Life Insurance Co., Inc., and Verde International Manpower Recruitment Services, Inc., Pacific Mediterrenian Manpower Agency, Inc., and MMML Recruitment Services.
Ligutom said simultaneous job and livelihood fairs will also be conducted on Labor Day in Pagadian and Dipolog cities, to be highlighted with the turnover of livelihood checks and starter kits to beneficiaries. There will also be and Awards Night in the Search for Best Employer/Employee in the Private Sector.
In Zamboanga City, Ligutom said, scheduled Labor Day events include a motorcade; a showcase of success stories at the WMSU Gym; awarding of livelihood projects at the Bishop’s Palace in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay; skills demo; Diskwento Fair; free clinic; raffle; the Regional Coordinating Council-Intermediaries Sports Fest; and Concierto de los Obreros in the evening.
In Dipolog City, there would be a fellowship-presscon to be hosted by the Tripartite Industrial Peace Council (TIPC), the “Talenyado Night,” and “SPES Got D Talent.”
