2011 Labor Day Breakfast With PNoy
President Benigno S. Aquino III announced the early release of the third tranche of salary standardization for government workers from July to June during his breakfast meeting with labor groups, dubbed as "Breakfast with the President", in celebration with the 109th Labor Day anniversary.
In his speech, the President urged the wage board members for a speedy resolution on the wage board issues. He also recommended hosting similar quarterly meetings with the labor groups, instead of the annual meetings done during Labor Day. According to the President by hosting tripartite meetings, he is confident that through these dialogues it will usher in faster resolution in solving the perennial problem on labor issues.
The President also assured the labor groups that his administration prioritizes job creation such as the Department of Health's (DOH) Registered Nurses for Health Enhancement And Local Service (RN HEALS), that will employ thousands of unemployed registered nurse to work in poor rural areas in the country. The government also launched the Special Program for Employment of Student (SPES) that will hire students during vacations, among others.
The Labor Day celebration carries the theme "Matuwid na Daan Tungo sa Kaunlaran Para sa Lahat" that highlights the Department of Labor and Employment's (DOLE) public-private partnership effort. The breakfast meeting was attended by 89 representatives from different labor groups in the country.
The event will also host a nationwide job and livelihood fairs, with the biggest to be held at the Rizal Park in Manila with 200 local companies and overseas recruitment agencies awaiting job seekers in Metro Manila.
