DOT to mount emergency relief operation for typhoon victims.

Department of Tourism (Philippines)

The Department of Tourism (DOT) is set to mount an emergency relief operation to help in the overall effort to aid victims in Central Luzon, hardest hit by typhoons Pedring and Quiel.
Tourism Secretary Ramon R. Jimenez, Jr. directed the immediate reactivation of the DOT Crisis Management Team (CMT) and gave instructions as of September 30 to effect the immediate mobilization of the various sectors in the department and its attached agencies in seeking the support of both the government and private sector for the humanitarian campaign.
Secretary Jimenez is appealing to all DOT-accredited tourism enterprises thru their respective associations such as those on accommodations, tour operations, tourist transport operations, recreation, entertainment, shopping, and other allied businesses to respond to the call of President Aquino to give donations—in cash or in kind—for the affected communities.

The Operations Group of the CMT, led by Undersecretary Maria Victoria Jasmin, will take charge of collection, packing and distribution of donated items to the severely affected towns in Bulacan. DOT is expected to continue the relief operation until the crisis is over.DOT to mount emergency relief operation for typhoon victims
