For the month of February 2012, the Bureau of Internal Revenue [BIR] collected P68.69 billion in tax revenues, P61.36 billion from BIR operations, and P7.34 billion from non-BIR operations.
Compared to the collections in February 2011 when the BIR generated P53.42 billion, this year’s actual collections are ahead by P15.28 billion, or an increase of 28.6 percent. This month’s actual collections exceeded the P63.13-billion target by 8.81 percent.
For the first two months of this year, the BIR actually collected P153.84 billion compared to P127.99 billion in the first two months of 2011, a growth of P25.85 billion or 20.2 percent. Collections for the first two months exceeded target by P3.43 billion or 2.28 percent.
