Rep. Ben Evardone today strongly opposed calls for the resignation of Energy Secretary Rene Almendras over the power crisis in Mindanao, saying Almendras is doing his best to address the problem.
“What Secretary Almendras needs is our collective support. I think he has already put in place the action plan to solve the power crisis in Mindanao,” said Evardone.
“The problem is so complex and massive that it cannot be solved overnight. His resignation will not help address the problem. It will only set back efforts to rectify the situation,” he stressed.
The congressman said what is needed is a concerted effort to address the power issue which the Aquino administration inherited from its predecessor, which sat on the problem for nine long years.
Meanwhile, the Buhayin ang NAPOCOR, Atin To movement or BANAT has enjoined all National Power Corporation (NPC) transco to rally behind Almendras in rehabilitating the power sector in Mindanao.
