DOLE says nationwide job fairs ongoing

A February 11, 2011 press release by the Department of Labor
Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda D. Baldoz yesterday encouraged jobs seekers, including fresh graduates, to avail of job opportunities offered in job fairs, primarily by honing their skills and by attaining the necessary qualifications for the jobs available, as she disclosed that the DOLE and its various regional offices and partners have ongoing job fairs all over the country.

Baldoz gave the advice as she announced the job fairs for the month of February.
The labor and employment chief explained that the DOLE’s efforts to sustain job fairs are in pursuit of 22-point labor and employment agenda of President Benigno S. Aquino III, one of the goals of which is to strengthen opportunities and human resource development (HRD) in the Philippines.
“The conduct of job fairs is a regular program under the aegis of the DOLE’s regional offices, and DOLE-supervised Public Employment Service Offices (PESOs) nationwide. Job fairs assist in mitigating labor-jobs mismatch in the country,” she said.
The labor chief recalled that DOLE began initiating job fairs nationwide under the administration of the late President Cory Aquino, in response to the need to aid and provide productive opportunities to people affected by the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo in 1991.
Baldoz applauded the various companies and business chambers and federations that have consistently supported the DOLE’s job fairs.
She had earlier directed the Bureau of Local Employment (BLE), headed by Director Maria Criselda R. Sy, to publicize the schedules of the jobs fairs to increase the public’s awareness about these.
Sy said that as furnished by the various DOLE regional offices, the tentative schedules and venues of the local, overseas,  job and livelihood fairs in February as posted in the BLE-supervised Phil-Jobnet  (accessible through the URL http://www.phil-job.net) system in the Internet, include the following:
