A March 16, 2011 press release by the Department of Labor and Employment
Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Dimapilis-Baldoz announced yesterday that a big steel fabrication and engineering company, the Atlantic, Gulf & Pacific Company of Manila Inc. (AG&P), is inviting overseas Filipino worker (OFW) repatriates from Libya and returnees from other countries to apply for numerous vacancies in its international client based in Muntinlupa and its fabrication yard in Batangas.
Baldoz expressed elation at the prospects of OFW repatriates and returnees of finding local jobs that pay well like those at AG&P. This firm, she said, is interested in hiring OFWs who have work experience at the technical or managerial level in oil, gas, chemical, petrochemical, and pipeline industries.
“Local jobs that pay well may encourage OFWs to stay and not to go abroad anymore, which is good for their loved ones,” Baldoz said.
Baldoz said the AG&P vacancies will be posted online in the Phil-Jobnet, the government’s official job matching and jobs search portal. Interested workers may also find the list of the vacancies at the DOLE main webpage, specifically under the sub-heading “local job opportunities for repatriates from Libya.”
“This is public-private partnership at work,” the DOLE chief said as she thanked the AG&P for supporting the DOLE in its efforts to help OFWs, especially the repatriates from Libya in line with the reintegration program for OFWs.
The DOLE’s reintegration program for OFWs displaced by the unrest in the Middle East includes helping them find another employment, locally or overseas.
