DFA team stationed at Egypt-Libya border continues to assist Filipinos exiting Libya

The five-man Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) team sent to Egyptian city of Saloum at the Egypt-Libya reported that more Filipino are arriving at the border or are trying to reach the border.

The team is there to assist the Philippine Embassy in Cairo in the repatriation of Filipinos from Libya.


According to team leader and Philippine Consul General in Barcelona Eduardo de Vega, the DFA and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) teams in Saloum are continuing to work with the Filipinos’ employers in Libya. Local Egyptian border officials and transport companies are also assisting in the repatriation of more Filipinos who wish to leave Libya.

As of March 4, around 200 Filipinos working in Brega are expected to arrive at the Egyptian border in the next 24 hours.
