PNOY Speech at Inauguration of Sta. Ana Hospital (Full Speech Video)

President Benigno S. Aquino III led the inauguration of the newly constructed additional floors (6th-10th) of the Sta. Ana Hospital in Manila on the occasion of its first anniversary.

The President toured the medical units housed on the 6th and 7th floors of the hospital, launching officially the new medical services being offered such as dialysis and endoscopy services. Sta. Ana Hospital, one of Manila's six local district hospitals, received a video endoscopy system unit from President Aquino through the Department of Budget and Management.

In his speech, President Aquino said the government is fast-tracking its work to address problems in the health sector. He cited several DOH-led initiatives like improving access to quality hospitals and health care facilities, and attaining health-related Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). He also mentioned the expansion of the Diskwento Caravan Project by the Department of Trade and Industry that reaches the poorest Filipinos in 60 areas around the country. The caravan offers discounted goods like school supplies and quality medicines at cheap prices to consumers.

Sta. Ana Hospital is a 200-bed capacity tertiary hospital equipped with medical and support service capabilities in several fields like pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, surgery, orthopedic and physical therapy. It was built on a lot donated by Tan Yan Kee Foundation chairman Lucio Tan.
