Wanted: Volunteers for Typhoons to assist repacking relief goods


Social Welfare and Development Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman today said that the DSWD continues to accept volunteers to assist in the repacking of relief goods at the National Resource Operations Center (NROC) in Chapel Road, Pasay City.
As of today, October 1, 158 volunteers from Philippine National Police, UP All Caloocan City, NTHK-C Alyansa, Tuloy sa Don Bosco School, UNAEV Electrical, Inc., DSWD employees and several individuals from different areas of Metro Manila went to NROC to respond to DSWD’s call.
Volunteers Loading GoodsThe DSWD through the NROC, is also accepting donations like bottled water, biscuits for children, and easy to cook foods, blankets, Secretary Soliman added.
For interested volunteers you may call the DSWD – National Resource Operations Center (NROC) at telephone number 852-8081 (24 hours).  The NROC is located at Chapel Road, Pasay City (back of Air Transportation Office).
“Volunteers are a big help to DSWD in times of disasters, such as typhoons, because the manpower complement of the Department is not enough to do all the repacking of relief goods,” Secretary Soliman enthused.
