Philippines joins Floriade 2012 in Venlo, the Netherlands


The Philippine Embassy in The Hague, in cooperation with Nieuwkoop Europe B.V. and the Philippine Trade and Investments Center in Rotterdam, opened its Pavilion at Floriade 2012 on April 4 during ceremonies officiated by Queen Beatrix of The Netherlands, Patroness of the Floriade. The opening ceremonies was attended by Philippine Ambassador to The Netherlands Lourdes G. Morales.
Widely acclaimed as the biggest World Horticulture Expo, this year’s host of Floriade is Venlo City in Limburg Province. Floriade 2012 is the most important event in The Netherlands in 2012. It expects to receive two million visitors from April 5 to 7 in its 66 hectare-ground (the size of 130 football fields).
Floriade World Horticulture Expo is held once every ten years. This year’s theme is “Be Part of the Theatre in Nature, Get Closer to the Quality of Life.” The Floriade Park will be showcasing the exhibitions of almost 100 participants from different countries in various gardens and pavilions.
The Philippine Pavilion is located at the Villa Flora, the largest indoor flower exhibition in Europe. Different exhibitors will be present at the Philippine Pavilion from April to October 2012, among which are Nieuwkoop Europe B.V., which products and interior design will be on display from April to May; Fiber Industry Development Authority from June to July; Mama Sita Foundation in August; Bamboe Koning and Filshop in September and October.
